                From the time that Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement. The popularity of Kate has spread for more and more media.  Part of Kate’s attraction is her confidence and yet feminine bearing that fascinate readers, like her late mother-in-law. Diana’s popularity was astronomical. She was constantly hounded by the media, there are some people that believe she was killed by the media.   Diana, Princess of Whales was a great iconic figure, she had grace, style and was philanthropic.
                Princess Kate is considered an international fashion icon, she appears in public without a hair out of place, fashionably dressed and is not afraid to wear something twice (Kate Middleton, 2012).  According to Herald Sun “She’s been named the world’s best-dressed woman” (Kate Middleton the Global, 2012). Kate does not have a personal stylist she has been dubbed the Duchess of Thrift.
                Merriam-Webster definition of an icon is “a usually pictorial presentation: image” (Icon, n.d.).   It seems like everywhere you turn at the grocery store there are pictures of Kate Middleton on magazines. Like Princess Diana, she was also continuously hounded by the photographers, from the time that her and Prince Charles engagement.
 Princess Diana was known for her iconic style of dress from the designs of Versace and Catherine Walker.  Unfortunately, most working women could not afford the styles that Princess Diana wore. Vogue magazine remembers Princess Diana as a true fashion icon (Neel, 2011).
Kate’s style is more realistic among the fashionistas, and attainable to the common working woman.  The iconic styles that both Princess Diana and Princess Kate display will have an impact on the world for many years to come.  Kate has put the “word “lady back into fashion by keeping the tradition of dressing conservatively alive.
